E Meets Grandpa B!

It finally happened.  After 8 weeks of life, E has met all of his grandparents.  One thing I have learned since becoming a parent, is that things seldom happen according to the plan anymore.  E is either too cranky or too tired to leave the house at the appointed time, or to go down for a nap at the appointed time, or too excited to wait for his due date to be born.

The original plan was for my parents to come down and visit right after E was born around Christmas, but because he was three weeks early, and my dad was on a business trip in Oklahoma, that didn't happen.  And then some other things happened which prevented my dad from coming to visit.  So Hubsters and I decided if Dad couldn't come to E that we would take E to Dad.

This picture is the first time E meets my dad.  I love the huge smile on my dad's face as he holds his first grandchild for the first time.  Looking at this you might think that E doesn't like Grandpa, but in actuality, E was still working on a burp that we couldn't get out, so he was just uncomfortable.

But then things got better.  E decided to check out the new person holding him, and then E decided Grandpa was cool.  He soon lost interest in Grandpa and decided to look at the black box that Mommy kept pointing at him...what was that???

I'm excited for E to get to know Grandpa and for my dad to spend some time with E.  I love family!

A Glorious Reminder for the Day

Ephesians chapter 1 is one of my favorite passages in scripture.  I love it because Paul does such a great job at summarizing the good news of the Gospel.  It is a great reminder of the redeeming work Christ did for us on the cross and the great hope we have in Christ.

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Mean Mommy

Hubsters says I'm mean for making E wear this.  I think it's really cute.  He says it makes E look like an elf.   But it's cold outside today; one of the coldest days of this winter.  It was 21 degrees with a windchill of 5 when Hubsters left for work this morning.  I need to go to the UPS store and then the post office today, and so E needs to be warm.  I think it's perfect, and it's hand made by one of my mom's coworkers.

Neck Exercises

Tummy time is not E's favorite things.  It's not like he screams when we put him on his tummy, he would just rather be on his back looking around at the world.  But, we know that tummy time is good for him, so he just has to endure it for now.

Tonight E did really well with lifting his head.  He's getting to be such a strong boy!

Little Gymnast!

OK - so not really.  This was totally a random ring grab as he was swinging his arms around, but it's totally cute and I like to think a step in the developmental ladder.  Even if it was just a reflex.
